Our longest shot
Those who love to play long shot futures bets will seriously want to consider taking a flyer on Italy’s Ciro Immobile for the Euro 2020 Golden Boot award. He isn’t quite the spring chicken that Kylian Mbappé or Harry Kane are, but the veteran Italian striker can teach anyone a thing or two about putting the ball in the goal. Italian football has fallen off the map in recent years, but Immobile is certainly motivated to have one last hurrah on the international stage in the prime of his career.
Immobile’s career is littered with goal scoring awards including the European Golden Shoe in 2019-2020, Serie A top goal scorer in 2013-2014, 2017-2018, and 2019-2020 when he potted an impressive 36 goals. For his current squad Lazio, Immobile has scored 122 times in 174 matches, and has 12 goals in 45 international matches for the Italian National Team.
Italy to make a run for the knockout stages
Italy has an excellent chance at coming out of Group A as well, with Turkey, Switzerland, and Wales making up the rest of the pool. The Azzurri also have the benefit of playing in front of its home fans, albeit at 25% capacity, for all of its group games. Expect the Italian fans to be boisterous after not even qualifying for the 2018 World Cup, something that had not happened since 1958. With a great chance at a long and successful tournament, Immobile begins to become a little more appealing as a longshot to take home the Golden Boot.

Immobile Golden Boot odds
Immobile’s odds currently sit at 30/1 and he has the slimmest chance of winning the award according to oddsmakers. Taking into consideration that Italy should win its pool and set itself up for a long tournament run, Immobile will have plenty of opportunities to score some goals. With that logic he fits in the same category as Romelo Lukaku or Harry Kane, but at triple the payout. Considering those factors, it seems worth it to place a small wager on Immobile, especially given the number of players from the Group of Death that are involved in the Golden Boot discussion. Nobody is expecting much from Italy following its absence in 2018, so the steep discount in Immobile’s odds and high percentage change of Italian success makes him a very attractive longshot to bet on.
